With SCBWI having over eighty regions, you'll no doubt be aware of all the hard work that all teams do in ensuring the members in their chapter are fully informed of all things literary. This of course couldn't be done without everyone pulling together and being actively involved, which I can honestly say is a huge help to all who participate.
As you thumb through this international issue, you'll read from Angela Cerrito, international regional advisor. Not only does she do a superb job all year round, but the time and hard work she puts in organising SCBWI at Bologna, makes it a must event for anyone in our field. Being bi-annual, the next SCBWI at Bologna symposium isn't till 2012 now, but there is still the Bologna Book Fair itself, which takes place annually.
We also have advice from Vicki H. Moss about crits. in 'Belly Laughing Your Way to Thick Skin' and Linda Joy Singleton has contributed 'My Very First Book Sale'. Thanks must also go to Suzanna E. Henshon, Ph.D. for her article, 'How to Turn Rejections into Acceptances', Tracy Ann Baines for her interview with Gill Arbuthnott, Maureen for 'Tales from an Avron Course', and Karen for 'Five Ways Of Making Your Character More Memorable'.
Throughout this edition, Rikin's illustrations are truly delightful and I thank everyone involved for this truly international theme. I would also like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thanks to you all for your support, without which this family wouldn't be what it is today. I look forward to bumping into many friendly faces at the EIBF and seeing you all at SCBWI Scotland's Cathy Cassidy event on 16th August.
See you all soon,
Claira Jo
